A full recut to improve proportions, symmetry and brilliance. Ideal for old-cut diamonds, poorly cut stones or shapes that no longer suit your taste or setting.

Diamond Cutting FAQs

Will recutting significantly reduce the carat weight of my diamond?

It depends on how much work is involved. Minor polishing and symmetry improvement typically results in less than 1% weight loss. A full recut to improve proportions may reduce the weight by 5 to 15%, depending on the original stone. We always provide a detailed assessment and weight estimate before anything begins, so you can make an informed decision.

Can you recut a diamond that is already set in a ring?

The diamond needs to be removed from its setting before we can work on it. We can handle the removal, perform the recut or polish, and reset the stone for you -- or return it loose if you would prefer to have it reset elsewhere. Whatever works best for you.

How long does diamond recutting take?

A standard recut typically takes 1 to 3 weeks. More complex shape changes may take a little longer. We will give you a clear timeline estimate during the initial assessment so you know exactly what to expect.

Can I send my diamond from overseas?

Yes, many of our clients send stones from overseas. We can guide you through the process of shipping a diamond securely and legally. All stones in our care are fully insured and handled with the utmost care.
